Tiger Lily Cometh

These Tiger Lily blooms are teasing the heck out of me.  Every morning and first thing, I grab a cup of coffee and head straight to my garden to to see if a bright orange flower head is bobbing free and easy in the breeze.  This morning I had to laugh at all the stages of almost-bloomage.  Not ready yet.  That dark orange guy that looks like a squash blossom and hangs right up front is bursting soon.  He can barely contain himself.  The small lime green one just chuckled, "Hold on lady.  I'll bloom when I'm ready."  In Buddhism Tiger Lillies are associated with mercy and compassion. Good to have in the garden.  They're also associated with protection from harm, warding off ghosts and evil.  Well, that's good, too, especially since it grows right next to our driveway.  Banish evil drivers who would dare enter! Another "source" indicates that the orange upside-down flower with curly petals and black spots, whose bulb tastes like potatoes, is associated with wealth.  Bring on the cash!  Ok, this is my favorite plant for now.  Hope it blooms tomorrow.
